Marriage Checklist

The following documents are necessary in order to be married in a Catholic Church:

Ø Baptismal Certificate:

This certificate is got from the parish where each party was baptised & need issued within six months of the proposed date of Marriage.

 

Ø Confirmation Certificate:

This certificate is got from the parish where the ceremony of your Confirmation took place. The parish of your baptism may also have this information.

Ø Statutory Declaration Form:

This is a declaration there is no impediment with the church or state for you to marry.

 

Ø Pre-marriage Course Certificate

(One certificate covers both bride and groom).
Other documents that may be required will be discussed when meeting with the priest.

 

·        If either party is baptised non-Catholic:

Ø Copy of the person’s Certificate of Baptism is necessary.

 

·        If either party has been previously married civilly and/or in religious ceremony:

Ø Please discuss this matter with the priest
