Baptism :: Reading option 4

Reader 1:

 A Reading from the First Letter of St. Peter

As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.  Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

The Word of the Lord

Reader 2:

R: The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.

R: The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

He leads me in paths of righteousness

for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

R: The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

You prepare a table before me

in the presence of my enemies,
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.

R: The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lordforever.

R: The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
