Baptism :: Reading option 2

Reader 1:

A Reading from the Letter of St. Paul to the Romans

Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?  We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.  We know that our old self[a] was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.

The Word of the Lord

Reader 2:

R: The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall, I fear?

The Lord is my light and my salvation;

whom shall, I fear?

The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?

R: The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall, I fear?

One thing have I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,

R: The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall, I fear?

Hide not your face from me.
Turn not your servant away in anger,
O you who have been my help.
Cast me not off; forsake me not, O God of my salvation!

R: The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall, I fear?

Teach me your way, O Lord,
and lead me on a level path
Give me not up to the will of my adversaries;
Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!

R: The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall, I fear?
